A photo shoot is not something you do regularly. You naturally want to look your best for your shoot at MLOUBOUDOIR. Having your hair and makeup professionally taken care of can be part of your adventure. You can choose to do it yourself or arrange something on your own. Currently, we do not have an active collaboration with a stylist.

HAIR AND MAKE-UP, TO DO OR NOT TO DO? YOU DECIDE!

As a photographer, I see daily how makeup and hairstyling can make a difference in images. While it is not a must, it does have several advantages that can enhance your experience and end result.

Why professional makeup and hairstyling?

Makeup that looks subtle in everyday life can often appear less visible on camera due to the way light and lenses work. A makeup artist knows exactly how to accentuate your strengths without it looking unnatural. Furthermore, products are used that last a long time and prevent reflections or shine, ensuring your skin looks even and fresh.

The same goes for hairstyling: what looks good at home can sometimes appear flat or frizzy on camera. With the right techniques, your hair stays styled without you having to fuss with it throughout the shoot.

Who is it recommended for?

- If you want to relieve yourself of stress and start the shoot feeling relaxed.

- If you have doubts about how your makeup and hair will look on camera.

- If you want an extra boost of confidence during the shoot.

But it is absolutely not a requirement.

Some people feel most like themselves without makeup, and that is completely fine. The choice is personal and depends on what makes you feel most comfortable. My advice? Choose what suits you — because when you feel good, you radiate that in the photos.

WHEN MAKEUP AND HAIR STYLING

MAY NOT BE THE BEST CHOICE

Although professional hair and makeup have many advantages, it is not always the best choice for everyone. Here are a few situations where you might be better off not doing it:

1. If you feel most yourself without makeup

Some people wear little to no makeup in their daily lives and feel comfortable with that. If you are worried that you won't recognize yourself or feel less comfortable, it may be better to maintain your natural look. Confidence shines the brightest on camera, and that comes only when you feel good in your own skin.

2. If you have specific allergies or sensitive skin

Although makeup artists work with high-quality products, some skin types may react sensitively to makeup. If you often experience irritations or allergic reactions, it may be safer to use your own trusted products or to skip makeup altogether.

3. If you have a very specific style that is hard to replicate

Do you always wear a very specific eyeliner style or a unique hair look that you have perfected down to the last detail? Then it might be that a makeup artist does this just a bit differently than you are used to, which can make you feel insecure in front of the camera. In that case, it might be nicer to do it yourself.

4. If your photos need to have the most natural look possible

Some photoshoots revolve around an authentic, pure look, for example in lifestyle or artistic portraits. In such cases, makeup can detract from the natural feeling you want to convey.

In short: choose what suits you

There is no right or wrong—the most important thing is that you feel good during your shoot. Whether you choose a professional touch or prefer to go natural, your appearance and confidence ultimately make the biggest difference in the image.

ARRANGEMENT

After the move to our new studio in Dongen in the summer of 2025, we will offer Hair Styling and Make-up from the studio. In the coming months, we will be looking for new collaborations for this. We hope to offer a nice package starting from the fall.
